Built in 1924, this colonial home overlooks the Mississippi River valley with spacious rooms and generous yard space along the Grand Rounds National Scenic Byway. After considering a move, the owners decided to stay and expand the existing house to better suit their current lifestyle and family needs.
Their goals were many, but the primary vision for the project was to create more family living and multipurpose space on the main floor, and add a laundry and owner’s suite above.
The study on the main floor contains custom designed rift cut oak columns, built-in cabinetry and desk areas for three people to work comfortably. The two new bathrooms incorporate pleasing patterns in glass, stone and porcelain tile.
The new architecture is tailored to the colonial style of the existing house. Thoughtful placement of the addition, room proportions, column details, panels, trim and window patterns compliment the original house style.
